An Amazing Experience For All Students
CCFA’s 4th Annual Read Across America Day was an amazing experience for all students grades K-5th at the Gregory School. We began our day with guests readers reading Dr. Seuss books to students grades K-3rd which included two special education classes.
A Dr. Seuss book drawing was held in over 18 classrooms. It was fun seeing students select numbers and hear their numbers called and win their very own Dr.Seuss book to take home. Special thanks to Ms. Rice for all of her advice and help coordinating an incredible day ! Everyone was a winner , if your name was not selected , you won a pencil, pad , or a Dr.Seuss book .
Over 200 Dr. Seuss books were donated by our generous partners: Turner Construction, United Way of Greater Mercer County, Karen Abrams, Margee Harper, First Book, Mercer Street Friends, Bridge of Books, Christine’s Hope for Kids.
Special thanks to Yolanda L.Robinson and Ms. Debbie Vennello, faithful CCFA volunteer who helped coordinate the book drawing, and Mr. Korn who picked up books from our donor.
All of our guest readers which included Mercer County Senior Beauty Pageant “ Queens”, Ellen Gilbert from People and Stories, Cathy and Bob Weber.
Special give bags were given to 75 students grades K-2nd grade. One Simple Wish with hats, gloves, socks.
All of the 3rd, 4th and 5th graders participated in the Read Across America free book store in the Bus Depot, where they selected 4-6 books for their home libraries. At 2:30 the entire school participated in “ Drop EveryThing and Read”, it was an inspiring event to see students line the halls with their new books “Reading to Achieve “ on every floor!
