Parent Cafe

CCFA’s “Parent Cafe” engaged parents and grandparents at the Gregory School on April 16th in Mindfulness, Positive Thinking and an actual Yoga Class. We opened with prayer led by CCFA volunteer Donna Hendricks whose words innovated a calming and strengthening atmosphere for the release of stress and pressure many participants are experiencing. LaWanda Edmond, guest speaker and Senior Manager at Spirent Communications, lead a dynamic interactive presentation on Mindfulness and Positive Thinking; guiding participants to look from the inside out, placing positive focus on the good things about their lives, reminding them that “We are God’s Masterpiece”, that their children are valued, and the power of living with Hope and Faith resonated as stories of trails and triumphs were shared. Everyone completed an action plan with activities on “having the right mindset” and the power to create the life and future you desire!

Chrisanne Milko, Yoga Instructor from Monmouth Beach Yoga, lead a transformative yoga class, which included breathing, relaxation and strengthening poses for mind, spirit and body. Yoga resource materials were provided so participants can continue. Free Inspirational, self-care, motivational books and children books were available. Each participant was given a Yoga mat donated by CCFA’s Partner, One Simple Wish. Light refreshments were sponsored by the Parent Liaison. The Parent Cafe was best described by one grandparent “I know now that I can do Yoga and I have to be optimistic about my grandkids making it in life, got to have faith in God and keep every body in school. Think good, good will come.”
