One Simple Wish “Back to School Bash” at Gregory School
CCFA held its 5th Annual Back to School readiness kickoff on August 15th with an amazing “Back to School Bash“ for 120 students and their parents sponsored by One Simple Wish at the Gregory School. As one parent shared, “it was a wonderful day just wonderful, the kids had fun making things, [playing] games, [we] won prizes, ate pizza and we went home with new sneakers, books and book bags!”
CCFA recognizes the importance of alleviating the pressure that families living in poverty experience while preparing their children for the first day of school. CCFA’s “Read to Achieve” had a table for each student to select two to four books. Volunteers from Turner Construction were on hand to help distribute these books.
Our two faith based partners, Bethel United Holy Church and Nassau Christian Center, did an amazing job responding to the needs of children. Bethel United Holy Church donated 20 fully loaded book bags with enough items for the first 4 months of school. Nassau Christian Center in Princeton collected enough book bags and supplies for 100 students. Ms. Jacquelynn M. Rice and Yolanda L. Robinson coordinated the distribution and pickup of these Back to School supplies from our faith based partners.
Christine’s Hope for Kids made it possible for an additional 150 students to get “school supply bags” filled with essential items to start the School year. These bags were distributed during a Back to School event hosted in East Trenton as well as during the Kindergarten Orientation and Back to School Night for the Gregory School.
We are grateful for our community partners and their incredible donations and dedication to our shared mission. With our community partners support children and families are “learning and achieving together.”
