The Center for Child & Family Achievement’s (CCFA) 7th Annual Christmas Giving was held December 18th at Wilson Homes, in their community room on Oakland Street in Trenton. It was a joyous day of laughter and Tote Bags full of gifts for 75 children who live this public housing development. The event was coordinated by CCFA volunteers, Victoria Bush, Teia Robertson and Samantha Elliot, Ms. Brooks of THA was in attendance helping. Children received their Christmas Gifts in large Tote Bags full of 6-10 new books donated by Christine’s Hope for Kids, Trenton Public Library and United Way of Greater Mercer County, who also donated school supplies. Sharon Benjamin, noted Children’s Book Author, donated her books. CCFA’s “Read to Achieve” promotes home libraries, while inspiring reading and school attendance, over 500 books were given out. KinderSmile donated toothbrushes for each child. One Simple Wish, provided educational toys, family board games, Uno cards for each and some basketballs. The afternoon was filled with an joyous & happy atmosphere, with a visit for Santa and Mrs. Claus. Children enjoyed discovering that also in each bag, they had their own box of Popcorn, cookies and hot chocolate to enjoy while reading books and playing Family games such as Scrabble, Connect 4, Candyland, Monopoly. Our purpose for building a partnership with the Wilson Homes is to let children know CCFA sees and loves them, that they matter to CCFA and all our community partners.
