Watershed Nature Camp welcomed 28 students from Kindergarten to 9th grade, from June 27th – August 18th. CCFA students were recruited from our Trenton community partners at Wilson Homes, Trenton Public Library, Gregory School, Monument School, Life Gate Christian Academy, and CCFA Cohort groups. Free Bag Lunches were provided from a grant by the Princeton Area Community Foundation, as a result of CCFA’s advocating for free lunch and water bottles for all of our Campers.

Free Transportation was provided for all Trenton Campers. The Campers enjoyed 2 weeks each (one student attended for 3 weeks) at the Watershed Nature Camp, doing a variety of wonderful outdoor activities including; hiking, exploring nature, and playing outdoors. Special Camp themes were;” Wonderful Water “, learning about water and aquatic animals.“Outdoor Adventures”, exploring trails, building survival shelters, learn survival skills. “Art in Nature” uses natural materials to create arts & crafts. “Amazing Animals”’ searching for catching critters, crayfish, butterfly catching, log rolling.

All Campers enjoyed making colorful Watershed Nature Camp T-shirts to tie-dye during their first week. In addition to a CCFA Camper Bag, with books, candy, popcorn, art kits, and educational games. Our Campers were from sibling groups, with two and three children attending as a family group. Parents were thrilled and expressed gratitude. As one parent shared,” this is the first time all of my kids are going to camp together, I don’t worry about lunch, free transportation! My kids had a great time and learned a lot!“ One student excitingly said,” this camp was fun, I had the time of my life and didn’t want to be back in Trenton”

A special note of Thanks to Wanda McNeil at the Mercer County Park Commission for connecting CCFA to this amazing summer camp opportunity! Jessica McDermott, Director, Ana Hill, Coordinator, and the entire Camp Staff who gave our CCFA Campers an amazing summer at the Watershed Nature Camp. Thank you,to the Watershed Institute and your donors for the scholarships you made available to our CCFA children!!
